Electric, hydraulic or basic examination table model?

Are you deciding which examination table would best support the work in your medical office? Do you find it difficult to find your way around all the models? Let us help you with a brief overview, where we have covered all the essential similarities and differences.

How to find your way among so many different models?

Basically, examination tables are divided into the standard S and S – basic line. The S line, which received the Red Dot Design Award, includes electrically adjustable tables and some models are also available in a hydraulic version. The S basic line is simpler but with an outstanding price/performance ratio and electric height adjustment.

Here are 4 points to easily distinguish between the S line and the S-basic examination tables:

1. Height adjustment

The essential advantage of the S-line electric tables is that they feature a circular switch as standard. It is integrated into the base and is never in the way. It can be operated with your foot from all sides of the table, no matter where you stand during treatments.

Some models among S-line examination tables can feature hydraulic height adjustment. The tables are equipped with a foot pedal on both sides.

S-basic models are electric tables with a simple foot switch. In many cases this switch is sufficient since practitioners do not need access to a patient from all sides of the table. Tables are often placed against the wall in doctor’s offices.

2. Padding

The standard thickness of the padding is the same for the S and S-basic examination tables: 6 cm and the foam structure is the same too. The S tables can optionally feature 8 cm thick padding.

The S line padding is finished at a right angle, while the S basic padding flattens towards the edge. The usable surface of the right-angled padding is wider for 7 cm on each side. This means the most when patients’ hands don’t slide off the table during treatment.

S-line examination tables feature sealed upholstery. It prevents liquids from seeping into the upholstery. Examination tables Basic feature conventional stitched seams.

3. Retractable castors

All examination tables are equipped with retractable castors as part of standard equipment. However, S line electric and hydraulic models feature an additional shock absorber built into the mechanism. It ensures that castors come down softly.

4. Safe working load

The standard S line’s safe working load is 250 kg, while the basic models have a safe working load of 200 kg.
